Gas Facilities ManagementGas Facilities Management (GFM) is a service that enables BOC Healthcare to provide effective delivery, management and maintenance of all medical gases to your hospital’s site, allowing you to concentrate on patient care.

Elements of the GFM Offer

BOC Healthcare can facilitate and manage installation work, supply of medical gas pipeline system products, planned preventative maintenance and emergency cover for your pipeline system.  

The core elements involved in a GFM package are tailored to meet your specific requirements. These elements can include:

Design

Complete provision or assistance in the design of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS) to meet the current standards of HTM 02 and clinical needs. Including:

  •  Calculation of flow rates

  •  Pipe sizing

  •  Plant sizing

  •  Manifold and cylinder store room sizing

  •  Ward based storage

  •  Recommendations for vessel positioning and locating of cylinder stores

Product specifications

Production of standard and bespoke specifications for any medical gas contracted work such as:

  •  Installation

  •  Maintenance

  •  Extension to existing systems 

Equipment selection

Assist in the selection of equipment to ensure that it meets clinical needs and best practice and conforms to:

  • HTM 02-01

  • BS EN ISO 7396:2007

  • BOC Product Conformity Criteria

  • HSE/IMB Requirements

Installation

The management of the installation of MGPS and equipment, including:

  •  Installation testing

  •  Validation and verification

  •  Commissioning

  •  Setting to work

  •  Staff training

Note: Post installation, BOC Healthcare offers specialist services to assist operators in the ongoing running, maintenance and compliance of medical gas storage and equipment. 

Operational policy

Assist with documenting of an Operational Policy, including emergency procedures, as required by HTM 02. 

Preventive maintenance

A Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) scheme which would generally consist of 4 inspection visits per year by a trained service technician. Inspections and repairs are covered in relationship to fair wear and tear under normal usage, and this will safeguard all items of  hospital equipment within the GFM contract, including:

  •  Labour

  •  Spare parts

  •  Consumables

  •  Emergency call outs

Emergency response

This cover provides a 24 hour emergency onsite response to mechanical/electrical breakdown of equipment and is fully inclusive of consumables, spares and labour. 

Guaranteed compliance

Ensures that all hospital, equipment, documents and training provided complies at all times with the current regulatory standards. 

Pharmaceutical testing

  • The GFM contract could include all the necessary pharmacy tests relevant to the contract.

  • We would employ the services of a qualified pharmacist as Quality Controller where necessary or use the services of the trust where applicable. Quality control of the delivery of medicines to patients remains the responsibility of the pharmacist, but we would ensure you have the relevant data to assess the standards
